Welcome to the official Australian Summer Reading Club (SRC) program site.
Engagement with libraries is central to the SRC program. Funding and resource contributions from the Australian Public Libraries Alliance (APLA) enables the annual creation and delivery of a themed SRC program and resources for use by Australian public libraries.
APLA’s continued commitment to the delivery of this national, highly successful literacy campaign encourages libraries to use their library spaces, resources and collections to enrich the lives of children, young people and families; engage, connect, inform and inspire a love of recreational reading and the library habit; and places libraries as ‘active connectors’ in building literacy, language and learning in their communities.
The Summer Reading Club program is delivered annually in libraries and online from 1 December 31 January.
Your participation in the Australian Summer Reading Club allows children and young people to develop a sense of community with other children across the country. No matter where they are during the summer holidays, it is envisioned that children and young people will be able to participate in activities aligned to the annual programming theme, discover great Australian authors and illustrators, and share their voice by engaging in literary and creative activities, both online and in libraries.
The 2016 Summer Reading Club Evaluation Report is available for review. The report documents the measures and outcomes of the 2016 Heroes and Villains program. Click here to read the report.
Did you know that the graphic illustrations and templates from previous SRC programs are still available for use in your libraries? To access these materials visit the SRC Dropbox.
