Trick Big Lenny at school.
‘We’ll unhook the brakes on Big Lenny’s bike when he comes down Killer Hill! He’ll be going so fast that when he gets to Break Neck Bend he’ll go straight on and end up in the pond. We’ll tell all our friends at school what we’ve done. We can all go to the pond and watch.’
‘Wow! What a great plan. This might just be the greatest and the most devious and dastardly prank that we’ve ever played,’ Joel says excitedly.
‘Cool! And the best thing about Big Lenny landing in the pond is that he’ll totally empty it,’ Jesse says.
‘Big Lenny will end up sitting in the middle of the empty pond. He might even end up with a fish sitting on his head. And while Big Lenny is sitting in the middle of the empty pond with a fish on his head, we’ll all be rolling around in fits of uncontrollable laughter,’ Joel says.
The next day, Jesse and Joel arrived early to school so that they could watch and wait for Big Lenny to arrive. As soon as Big Lenny arrived and went to his classroom, Jesse and Joel unhooked Big Lenny’s brakes.
Jesse and Joel then told Louie the Lip what they had done.
Louie the Lip who they knew couldn’t keep a secret spent the rest of the day telling all the students in their class what they had done, except of course for Big Lenny.
At the end of each school day Big Lenny always goes to the school bike rakes via the school canteen. Betty and Marge Large run the school canteen! Betty and Marge Large love Big Lenny who happily consumes any left over food they were going to put into the rubbish.
By the time Big Lenny had gathered his bike and ridden across the Park and puffed and panted his way to the top of Killer Hill, Jesse and Joel along with the rest of their class have gathered around the pond at the bottom of Killer Hill.
‘Here he comes,’ someone screamed when Big Lenny appeared at the top of Killer Hill.
Big Lenny who had puffed and panted his way to the top of Killer Hill, smiled before he started the down hill trip. This was something that Big Lenny had done a thousand times before.
Normally Big Lenny when he is halfway down Killer Hill applies the bakes, which slows him down enough so he can navigate around Break Neck Bend.
But as you know, I know, Jesse and Joel know and everyone standing around the pond knows, Big Lenny’s brakes aren’t working.
So, of course, when Big Lenny applies the brakes!
The brakes fail. Big Lenny screams.
