Flying Start
Queensland Government Department of Education and Training website which includes parent/carer resources designed to help you help your child achieve literacy and numeracy, and learn to love reading. Also includes a list of suggested books for children aged 0-5 years.
Guys read
Devoted to encouraging boys, teenagers and young men to read more. The site has reading lists recommended by celebrities and books arranged by categories eg “At least one explosion”, “Sports”, “Action Adventure”, “Outer Space but with aliens” and, oddly enough, “Repairing shoes but only written in Spanish”. Add your own reading recommendations too.

2012 is the National Year of Reading. Libraries are partnering with writers, schools, government organisations, media, publishers, booksellers, businesses and a whole host of other organisations to spread the National Year of Reading message. The National Year of Reading will encourage Australians to become a nation of readers with a variety of events taking place throughout 2012.
